iBioScience Kft. In close cooperation with the Szentágothai Research Center (University of Pécs) and the Department of Laboratory Medicine (Pécs University Clinical Center) iBioScience Ltd. is utilizing its technological capacities to join the fight against coronavirus with a self-developed PCR-based screening program in preparation for the phase of mass diseases caused by the virus.

Regular screening allows for continuous and effective work, providing a kind of preventive background for employers. It is essential for employees to have this sense of security that the Employer can provide in the coming months by using an effective screening test.

Our goal is to make available a type of screening method to employers that, unlike rapid tests, determines the presence of viral genetic material in a sample. That way infection can be determined with 100% confidence without symptom onset.

About the coronavirus in brief

The coronavirus causing COVID-19 was discovered in December 2019 in China. Because we are dealing with an lesser known virus, it is quite difficult to fight it. The diagnosis, however, is very important, as by performing as many tests as possible, patients can be isolated, so that the disease, which has become a pandemic in the meantime, can be curbed.

Spread of the coronavirus

The virus is most commonly spread by droplet infection: it is released into the environment by coughing, sneezing, and exhaling, and then to another person nearby. By touching infected surfaces and objects, the virus can get on the hands, then touching the face, mouth and nose it can get into the body. It is not yet known exactly how long the virus will remain infectious on surfaces, but it is certain that simple disinfectants will kill it.

About testing

With the help of laboratory direct virus detection (PCR), from the first day of infection, we have the opportunity to detect whether the disease is present in the body or has already passed through it.

Equipping test staff

Our colleagues perform the sampling in compliance with the highest level 3 safety standards.

PCR / LABORATORY TEST

  • Laboratory test
  • It is performed using a sample taken from the pharynx
  • The most advanced technology
  • Microbiological procedure
  • The sample is tested in a microbiological laboratory
  • Result available on the day after the test is taken
  • Direct virus detection
  • After 24 hours, the patient receives a result

VIRUS STRAIN IDENTIFICATION

  • Additional information may be requested as part of the PCR test
  • In positive cases, the genetic information of the pathogen found in the patient is determined
  • After determining the genetic information of the virus, a visualization can be used to see where the pathogen came from, what path it has taken and what genetic changes it has undergone in recent months.
